I've been lost at sea for several days on a life raft, and I've exhausted the last of my food and water rations. Suddenly my luck changes as I felt the gentle nudge of land against my head. I got up to see a beautiful tropical island with big palm trees, crabs, lizards and wild hogs. I jumped up with excitement and quickly dragged my raft up onto shore but my luck quickly ran out as I puncture my raft on a sharp rock rapidly deflating all the air in it making it useless. I quickly realized that the island was deserted and that I had become a castaway.
Without hesitation my survival instinct kicked in and I began to search for a place to build a shelter. I found a small trench along the side of a hill so I broke some branches off a fallen tree and ripped some palm fronds of a small palm tree and made a makeshift survival shelter. After finishing my shelter I heard a loud roar and quickly ducked into my shelter. I heard the roar again and realized it was the sound of my own stomach I needed food so I ripped some flax off a flax bush and collected the same rock that punctured my raft and stranded me on this island. I used the rock to strip the flax making it like a string I then went back to the same fallen tree that I used to make my shelter with, broke off a long pole like stick to use as a wooden spear shaft. I grabbed the sharp rock to use as a spear head and the strip of flax to tie the two together. After I had crafted my spear I was on the hunt for a wild hog. I climbed to the the top of a huge ark and scanned the area like a hawk looking for a rabbit in the long grass. After what seemed like hours I finally spotted my prey, I quietly rushed down into some thick shrubbery and waited till the hog came near. As soon as the hog was close enough I pounced onto the wild beast like a lion onto a gazelle, I stabbed it my spear into the hog’s neck but it was fighting back wildly I ripped my spear out and stabbed it over and over again until it slowed down and finally died.
I carried it over my shoulders back to my camp and skinned it with my rock. I made a campfire with a spit to roast the hog on. I scrunched a bunch of dry grass and wood shavings up and put on the campfire. I banged two rocks together and made a couple of sparks that were enough to get the grass smoking I blew on the smoke to get the fire going and just like that it lit up. I stuck the hog on the spit and started turning it around to get it roasting. Despite the burnt looking parts of the roast it tasted delicious but after my meal I was very thirsty. I didn't have any pots with me that I could use to boil any water with so I looked up the trees for some coconuts. I found one tree that had a whole bunch of coconuts so I climbed up the tree and started bashing at the stem of the bundle with my trusty rock. After a few hits with my rock the bundle came falling down nearly knocking me down with it. I hoped down and cracked one of the coconuts open with my rock and drank the milk. After my refreshing beverage I went to sleep in my makeshift hut.
When I woke up it was a beautiful sunny day, even after my huge meal the night before I was still hungry my body must have been burning off fat while I was sleeping to stay warm I thought. I wrapped the remaining meat from my meal the night before in some leaves and hung it up so animals couldn’t get to it. For my last day on this island Hopefully I decided to make a delicious breakfast with roasted crab and pork on a stick. After my Savory breakfast I was filled up and ready to do some work, I grabbed what ever material I could such as seaweed, seashells, sticks, rocks, leaves and whatever debris that washed up on shore and used it to make a help signal. Once I was finished I sat down by the campfire that was still lit from breakfast and waited for rescue. I fell asleep.
All of a sudden I was awoken by the chopping sound of a helicopter. Without giving it a second thought I jumped up with excitement and ran to my signal. I scanned the air looking for the helicopter I spotted the chopper and began waving out rapidly desperate for someone to spot me. Someone saw me and the helicopter turned around. The helicopter hovered there for a moment then a rope was thrown down, shortly after a rescue crew member came down with the rope. The helicopter gradually lowered its altitude the rescue crew member told me to take his hand and he pulled me up onto the rope and attached a harness to me and I pulled myself up to the helicopter. The rescue crew member pulled himself up and closed the door he handed me a blanket and a sandwich. It was so fast when the helicopter came to pick me up I never even noticed how excited I was to see other people. I don’t think I had ever been so happy before in my whole life.
